Nihari Origin & History:

Originated from Old Delhi as a Mughal breakfast dish. Adopted deeply into Karachi and Lahore’s food culture.

Nihari Masala (for 1.25 kg beef)

  • Oil: 1 cup
  • Flour (for thickening): 4 tbsp
  • Ginger Garlic paste: 2 tbsp
  • Adraaj Nihari Masala

DETAILED METHOD:

  1. Heat oil, add beef + Ginger garlic, fry 10 minutes.
  2. Add Adraaj nihari masala.
  3. Add 8 cups water; slow cook 2–3 hours.
  4. Mix flour with water, add slowly.
  5. Cook 20 minutes until thick.
  6. Add desi ghee on top.
